So I haven't posted anything in 6 months, but I can explain.
In short, my absence of activity is a combo between very little to no free time and a little something I've come to realize is some kind of art-block. :bademoticon: 


The second thing that has been eating my time is that I'm currently in cosplay hell! I have been working on a costume for an event in Sweden this month, and since I don't actually know how to sew, it's taking a little longer than expected. (I started in April and I'm still not done~)


I won't be able to celebrate with a contest this time, especially since I still haven't finished the requests from the last one (but I will I promise!  ). However, when things cool down a bit, I was thinking of maybe doing a speedpaint/tutorial of how I draw the turtles? This is something I've been asked several times to do, so it could be fun to try. It's on my "Want-to-do-list".

I know there are a lot of TMNT-fans out there with OCs that are looking for affordable artists to help them make their characters come to life. If you're one of them, check her out! She also needs the money right now, so you'll be helping an artist and a dear friend of mine.

I'm just so angry and sad right now... I rarely get THIS emotional, but well, look at that. It actually happened.  

This is about a friend of mine. Let's call her Ginny, (since she really likes guinea pigs).

You don't know her, but you don't have to. Just picture the kindest, purest person in the world. Do it. That's her you see. Right there, with the wavy red hair and doe eyes. She's this un-believably sweet person that you WISH people could be, but that you don't really think can exist in real life.  

She sings in the church choir. She loves knitting and baking. And making dresses. She recently got a job at a home for old folks, and she was so happy over it... Gosh, I'm shaking as I'm writing this...  

She also loves voice acting. And she is GOOD at it. Of all my aspiring voice actor buddies, I always thought that she'd be one of the first ones to actually land a job in that industry. ...But she has a pretty low self esteem. This is the kind of girl that apologizes if she thinks that she's breathing too much of your oxygen. Or if she think that she's taking up the timeline on Twitter, just because she wanted to share a photo of some adorable mini-cookies she had baked. Shaped like stars...

This is why I feel so damn proud every time she decides to share something she's made on Youtube. She puts so much HEART into everything she does and she has become more and more confident over the things she makes.

...So try to imagine her feeling when she wakes up one morning and finds that ALL of those videos suddenly have a majority of dislikes.

I have a pretty good idea of who is behind it, but I'm leaving it out. The thing is that when your videos only have a few hundred views, a dozen dislikes from nowhere will easily suffocate the few likes you had actually received.  

I feel utterly powerless. It's not against any rules to dislikes videos, but... I just find it nauseating that some people find pleasure in doing something like this.  And to her! Of all people, why did they have to pick on HER?! To sit down and leave dislikes with multiple accounts on ALL her videos- That takes effort. And that's why I find this so repulsive.

Me and my friends have tried our best to leave as many likes as we can on her videos, to cheer her up. To bombard her with love and positivity instead. There are not enough of us to diminish the dislikes, but still.  

That's today's lesson in internet cruelty. Thank you if you've read this far. I don't know what I wanted to achieve here, I just needed to express myself. Be nice to each other, okay? And if you meet more people out there like Ginny, please protect them. They are a rare species because of poaching.

Okay.

It's taken me three bloody weeks to pick the winners, but here goes...

Let's start with the lottery! Like I said, I took all the names of everyone who left a request and put them in a hat. Watch the video for the revelation... (and a glimpse of my kitchen)

The other two categories were the REALLY difficult ones... Especially the fanfiction contest was  a nightmare to judge! I couldn't chose! I liked every single story for completely different reasons. And a few fanfics had picked the same picture! And they were equally good!! But different!!!  

So. After a lot of thinking and headaches, I have finally picked a winner for best fanfic...

Congratulations two-roads-and-apenny. It was a hard choice, so feel proud.
You can check out all of the fanfics in this folder. I really loved how each one of them used the drawings.

And finally, I had to pick a request myself.  
...Which is not an easy thing to do when there are SO MANY FUN AND AMAZING SUGGESTIONS OMG! A couple of these, I may draw anyway at some point. BUT, I need to pick one to start with, and after three weeks I think I've decided which one...

Congratulations to CelandineGranger! Her request is a family picture with Tang Shen and human Splinter together with their chidren, the turtles and Miwa/Karai. Surrounded by a dreamy mist and a lonely, rat-Splinter imagining this wishful scenario... It's bittersweet, and I'll get a chance to draw Tang Shen and Karai! Hopefully, I'll be able to do this idea justice...

Thank you SO MUCH you guys!! I loved reading your requests and fanfics, and I love making these contests with you.
I'm hoping to make more of these in the future.

Just a reminder that the 3000-watchers competition is ending the 30th of April. At first, I had split the different categories in two groups where the Lottery and Art request was due to the end of Mars, and the Fanfiction contest wasn't due until the end of April. But I've reconsidered and decided that ALL of the different categories will end the 30th of April.

So! Remember to submit your fanfiction and write your request in the comments before May the 1st!! If your comment or fic is dated in May, I will not be able to include it in the competition!

Important note: When writing your request, DON'T USE THIS JOURNAL. Write it in the "3000-watchers" journal instead, so that I have all the requests in one place. It will be a lot easier to draw a winner for the lottery that way.
